Stripes

Shop the Mint – Giveaway

While a majority of you may be enjoying the crisp air and the warm charming colors of fall, here in LA we are embracing the beautiful sunshine on the beach.  As much as I wish it was a little cooler, I really can’t complain.  I love my days spent with the babe.  Mondays are Mommy and Carlota time and they are my favorite.  We run on our own schedule and always seem to be on the go.  I cherish these little moments we have together.

I’m going to take full advantage of matching outfits while I still can.  Before you know it, she’ll be dressing herself and matching with her mama will be the last thing she’ll want to do.  Today was all about stripes.  I love a good stripped tee, and think I own a handful in my closet.  Such a perfect layering piece.  When I saw this dress at Mint Julep Boutique I knew it would be a perfect staple in my closet.  Chic yet simple….my style moto.

I’m excited to have teamed up with The Mint Julep Boutique to give one of my readers a $25 gift card to their store.  If you subscribe to their mailing list you get an additional $10 off your purchase.  They have really great pieces at reasonable prices. You can get my dress and the others I linked for less than $10 if you win.

Studs and stripes

The weather here in LA has been all over the place.  A couple weeks ago it was scorching hot, while this past week its been cooler.  Since I still can’t fit into my pre-pregnancy shorts, I’m happy to have the milder weather and continue with my maternity jeans!!  These are definitely a must in pregnancy investments for sure!!  I started wearing them as soon as I hit my second trimester and I’m continuing into the 4th trimester.  I may even have to pull them out during the holidays such as Thanksgiving….stretchy pants to the max.

I am refusing to purchase new clothes until I have reached a weight/size that I am comfortable with.  I’m hoping to go back to my pre-pregnancy size so that I don’t have to get an entirely new wardrobe.  I will be working with what I’ve got in my closet until then.

Today’s look is simple with black, stripes and ripped jeans.  I’ve been obsessed with stripes lately. I wear them a couple times a week for sure.  It’s a great pattern to layer, and adds a little volume to any look.  Another way I spruce up my outfit is by adding accessories.  Today I chose these boots as the finishing touch.  The gold stud detail definitely makes them stand out.  When one piece has a lot of detail, I like to keep the rest of the look neutral.  Sometimes when you have too many stand out pieces in one outfit you can look a little clownish.  Less is sometimes more!!

All about Stripes

photoIMG_5049photo Shirt:  Banana Republic   Shorts: Piperlime (Rag & Bone)   Hat:  J Crew   Boots:  Anine Bing    Bag:  Celine   Glasses: Bloomingdales (Chanel)

I’m a firm believer and patron of the simple look.  Of course I love a good statement necklace, or extravagant pattern mixing but I must say my go-to look is always simple yet chic.  (At least I like to think so!!)  Today in LA we were back to summer weather, so I had to keep cool whilst adding some Fall accessories.  I opted for the perfect little bootie and hat to add a little autumn into my summer vibe. The ankle boot was a staple last year and will also be this year so if you don’t already own a pair I suggest you give them a try.   These Anine Bing boots have been my favorites all last season.  They are pricey but were my investment piece last season, and I’m so happy I took the plunge.  You can find many affordable ankle boots that look just as stylish as these in every price range.

Distressed denim and stripes are the perfect combo.  I feel the boyfriend jean shorts give a little edge to the look, while the stripes add some flare to a simple jersey shirt.

I just bought this Banana Republic shirt and its perfect.  Has anyone else noticed the change in Banana?  I’m so happy with the addition of Marissa Webb as Creative Director.  She has kept their sophisticated business look but has incorporated a younger  hip vibe.  My next blog post will be about the New Banana Republic so be sure to check it out.  I opted for a Large size as I wanted something loose and flowing.  The link I posted is for a similar stripped shirt as I don’t see this exact shirt online.  It most likely is still in stores as I had just purchased it this past weekend.

With Love…
