My Instagram looks!

When I started my blog 3 months pregnant, I received many comments stating this will be difficult to keep up once baby gets here.  In my head I thought to myself….I’ve survived many sleepless nights studying for dental school exams,  I’ve got this.  Here I am almost 2 years later struggling to find time to get weekly posts in.  Not to mention we only have one child!!  Motherhood is tough.  It’s time consuming, exhausting, but also the best thing thats ever happened to me.  Carlota is changing and growing daily and I don’t want to miss a second of it.  If that means sporadic blog posts….so be it.

We are currently in Spain and just got back to Barcelona from the the Costa Brava.  With no wifi where we were staying I had to take a mandatory break from this post.  I can’t wait to write all about our vacation.  So far Carlota has been having a blast and enjoying the beach, water and being completely spoiled by her grandparents.

There have been a few looks on Instagram that didn’t make the blog.  I wanted to link some of those items for you here!

On Trend

I definitely wouldn’t consider my style as “trendy”.  As you can see from my posts, I tend to stick with items that are classic and casual.  I have emphasized this even more since becoming a mother.  It must be something in those pregnancy hormones that changes you.  I just can’t justify spending a lot of money on something I will only wear a handful of times.  Finding the online retailer SheIn has been a game changer.  I’ve found many trendy  and classic pieces for a fraction of the cost.

This off the shoulder blouse was one of my recent finds.  I love the knot detailing on the sleeves. It will look perfect when the weather decides to cool down and I can pair it with some distressed skinny jeans.  The best part is that its currently on sale and under $20.  I’ve linked a few of my favorite pieces from their site below.

Carlota on the other hand is always on trend with the latest baby fashion….at least I like to think she is.  Finding cute outfits for her has become one of my obsessions.  I wish they made half the things I find for her in my size…..mind you it probably wouldn’t look quite as good on me.  This romper was a recent find and on major sale.  Everything I find for her is always on sale!! (At least thats what I tell my husband).

With love,

Mom uniform

My colors of choice are always white, black and grey.  Are they even considered colors?  As much as I try to incorporate color into my wardrobe I always go back to the basics.  I guess you just have to stick with what you feel comfortable wearing.  With that being said…here I am in a T-shirt and jeans.  This has been my staple “mom uniform”.

Before Carlota, I envisioned myself as a mom prancing around in my heels, crop tops and whatever else was  in season.  A year later, I find myself rummaging amongst my T-shirts daily deciding if I should wear the striped one, black or white.  I’ve come to terms that this is the new me.  Wearing pumps running after a toddler in the park is just not my reality, and I’m ok with that.  Some days I’m super casual and just throw on a pair of sneakers, and others I find ways to dress up my look with my accessories.  The best part about a T-shirt and jeans is that you look cool and chic without making it seem like you’re trying to hard….because let’s face it you probably aren’t!!

Festival Florals

I can’t believe Festival season is here already and Coachella weekend 1 starts tomorrow.  We will be heading down to Coachella Valley next weekend for the music festival and I couldn’t be more excited.  This year will be a different experience than others in the past and I can’t wait.

I’m just not ready to leave my babe behind for the weekend, so Carlota will be joining us in Palm Desert.  This means that late night festival afterparties will consist of baby snuggles and pajamas.  I wouldn’t want it any other way…..at least that’s what I keep telling myself.  Another exciting difference is that BCN will be serving in the VIP area.  For those who don’t know BCN is my brother-in-law and husbands restaurant located in West Hollywood.  It serves street fare from Barcelona and it’s delicious.  If you are going to the festival be sure to stop by and say hi!!

If you’ve ever been to Coachella you know the fashion is just as important as the music festival itself.  It’s almost like a fashion show at the Empire Polo Club.  There are Pinterest boards set up just for Coachella outfits.  With motherhood getting in the way I haven’t had too much time to think about my looks.  When I came across this floral romper by Mint Julep Boutique I knew it was going to be in the lineup.  I love the fit and subdue sexiness it evokes.  Pair it with a cute bra, a statement necklace, or a great belt and you are good to go.  I knew the romper was a must have because it can be so versatile.    You can give it an edgy look by adding a fedora, leather jacket and booties; or pair it with a dainty necklace, and sandals and wear it to the beach.  I wore it here for Carlota’s first birthday and I can’t wait to post all about that experience next week.

Who’s headed to Coachella this year?  Do you have a romper in your outfit line up?

With Love,

Andrea

Mirror mirror on the hall

The architecture of the Walt Disney concert hall is spectacular.  Just look at these mirrored walls.  Its a blogger and photographer’s paradise.  (I think there were 5 different shoots along the building for the hour we were there).   If only LA traffic wasn’t as grid lock all the time, we would be here more often.  The less you have to drive, the better. Especially when you have a screaming baby in the back seat.  Thankfully, as Carlota has gotten older she has started to tolerate car rides……most of the time.  The problem has now become getting her fastened in her chair.  This is now a 5 minute challenge that consists of screaming, arching her back and squirming.  I’m sure you other mamas know exactly what I’m talking about.

Today’s outfit is one of my favorites.  A silk shirt, skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots; definitely one of my go-to looks.  I love the neck scarf and bow tie trend thats been getting a lot of popularity lately.  It’s a perfect accessory to transform your casual white shirt and jeans.  If you’ve been following my blog you will realize I’m all about having classic pieces in your closet that will last for years and adding “in trend” items to give a fresh outlook.  I frankly don’t have the closet space or the finances to constantly be shopping for new clothes weekly.  Instead I invest in pieces I know I will wear for years, and try to find the deals on items that I know may only last for a season.

What does your closet consist mostly of Trendy or Classic items?  Hope you had a great weekend.

With love,

Andrea

Sweater weather??

It’s still winter in most areas of the world but certainly not in LA.  It almost feels like summer is right around the corner.  I can probably pack up my oversized sweaters for next year, but I just can’t help myself.  I keep them for those off days where the weather drops below 70.  If you are on the lookout for a great oversized sweater, now is the time to purchase.  Many shops are having their end of season sales and I will link some great ones at the end of this post.

I kept todays look simple and sporty with sneakers.  I’ve been a big fan of sneakers lately.  I think it’s the combination of LA casual and mom life.  Who wants to be running after a baby in pumps?!?  Any mom that can do that daily I give major props to.  I know I can barely keep up in my sneakers.  I remember when converse and Adidas originals were the “it” shoes when I was in grade school.  I love how the cycle has come full circle and I’m re-living my childhood with both.

Carlota is wearing her…. or shall I say my favorite “Wondersuits”.  These zipper onesies  come in the cutest patterns and are super handy and easy for multiple diaper changes.  I’m slowly learning that the more convenient the better.

To you mama’s reading my blog…what are your favorite baby clothes or items that make life more convenient?

With love,

Andrea

Lifes a Beach

Its been a while since my last post.  One of my new year’s resolutions was to try and be more present.  Carlota is growing up very quickly, and I am trying to soak it all in.  Not to mention we’ve been fighting the cold and flu on and off this entire month.  Thankfully it seems like we’re starting to get all better, so fingers crossed it stays that way!

A few weeks ago I was able to bring Carlota home to Canada for a few days.  It was very special seeing her explore the place I called home for most of my life.  It was a short trip and we mostly stayed home with my parents.  Carlota doesn’t get to see her grandparents very often so we were very happy to soak up all those snuggles and kisses.

Valentines day is coming up.  I remember when the hubby and I would get dressed up and go for a romantic dinner.  This year I don’t see that happening.  I think we will spend it at home in our sweats celebrating with our little bug.  I wouldn’t even change this for anything.  If you are looking for outfit ideas this dress is one of my favorites.  I’ve worn it for my maternity photos (here), to a wedding, cocktail hour etc…  It comes in a variety of colors and that zipper in the back transforms it from simple and sophisticated to young and chic.

Thanks for reading, I’m looking forward to sharing some new looks with you soon.

Adding some flare

I’ve been living in my skinny jeans for years.  Other than my boyfriend jeans, you wouldn’t find me wearing any other style of denim.  Recently I’ve jumped on the flare bandwagon when I found this perfect pair.  I love the high waist and braided accents.  With my short torso, high waisted pants aren’t always flattering on my figure.  Maybe the detailed pockets are the magic piece, but as soon as I put these on I felt like they were made for me.

I’m very mindful of dressing for my figure or at least I like to think so!! Not everything that’s on trend will suit every body type.  I think it’s important to find those pieces that are stylish and suit you, rather than trying to wear everything that’s trending at the moment.

Carlota is rocking these adorable baby overalls from Old Navy.  Finding cute affordable baby clothes is always at the top of my list.  I’ve found so many fashionable items for Carlota at Old Navy and haven’t had to break the bank.  There is always some sort of sale going on there, on top of the already reasonable prices.

I can’t believe Christmas is just a few days away.  Are you ready for the holidays?  2015_09_28_Santa Monica_With Love Andrea_Web-542015_09_28_Santa Monica_With Love Andrea_Print-402015_09_28_Santa Monica_With Love Andrea_Web-412015_09_28_Santa Monica_With Love Andrea_Print-632015_09_28_Santa Monica_With Love Andrea_Web-612015_09_28_Santa Monica_With Love Andrea_Print-522015_09_28_Santa Monica_With Love Andrea_Print-49

Plan check

I love a good oversized sweater.  The larger the better.  If you ask me what a must have winter item is…..it’s a large cozy sweater!  It’s a perfect piece to just throw on over some skinny jeans or leggings and you look put together.  You can also layer it over a collared shirt, add a leather jacket, or wear it as a dress.  There are so many options.

Its a perfect gift for anyone on your Christmas list.  I love the checkered detail on this sweater.  The contrast of the white on black and the fuzzy texture adds just enough detail.  Because this sweater makes a statement for itself I kept the rest of the look simple with all black.
